Newton Abbot Fishing Association
I am an associate member of the Newton Abbot Fishing Association who have several waters in the area. Most of the waters are in the Newton Abbot area which is approximately 14 miles from where I live. Some of them are for full members only, the rest of them anyone with a license or day ticket can fish. My absolute favourite NAFA water has to be Charlcombe pond in Torquay. The small water is in a picturesque valley between Torquay and Newton Abbot and you would think that you are in the middle of the countryside, it is absolutely beautiful.
If you live within a 30 mile radius of Newton Abbott then you can become a member, whether that is an associate, or a full licence holder. If you don't fall into this category and don't want to become a member then you can fish most of the waters on a day ticket which can be obtained from several shops in the Torbay and Newton Abbot area. The Annual Subscription commences on January 1st, ends on December 31st each year, and is as follows: Senior Full Members – £75.00 Concession (Disabled/OAP) Full Members – £30.00 Junior Full Members (under 16) – £10.00 Senior Associate Members – £50.00 Concession (Disabled/OAP) Associate Members - £25.00 DAY TICKETS – Associate Membership Status Only 24hr Ticket – £10.00 Senior Day Tickets (dawn – dusk) – £6.00 Junior Day Tickets (dawn – dusk) – £2.00 Association Padlock Key – £2.00 All subscriptions are due on the 1st of January each year, irrespective of the date on which the previous licence was issued. A junior is any angler under the age of 16. A Full Junior member may apply to change their licence to a senior membership on their eighteenth birthday upon payment of the relevant fee (percentage of season remaining). All full members wishing to renew their licence may do so from November of each year and before the February 1st in the New Year. Failure to comply will automatically disqualify the right to a renewal and a new application with proposer and seconder may be required. Full Membership (New members) Full membership of the Association is restricted to anglers living within a 20-mile radius of Newton Abbot. Applications for Full Membership must be proposed and seconded by two full members, one of whom must be a member of the committee. Associate members wishing to apply for Full Membership must send the top copy of their Associate licence to the Membership Secretary, endorsed accordingly. To become a new Full Member you must first become an Associate Member, however you may then immediately convert to Full Member status if you wish, by following the above procedure. Application for Full Concessionary, Senior Citizen or Disabled membership should be made in writing enclosing proof of entitlement (copy of pension book, blue badge etc.) to the Membership Secretary. All applications should include the following: A form Senior Full Members Application Two passport sized photographs with the applicants name on the reverse. A stamped address envelope measuring at least 5″x 6″. Proof of residency. i.e. photocopy of utility bill or council tax demand. The additional payment of £25 for conversion to a Full Senior Membership and £5.00 for conversion to Full Concessionary,Senior Citizen/Disabled Membership. Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to Newton Abbot Fishing Association and should include cheque card details and address on the reverse. Do not send cash. Applications will be processed from November 1st – August 31st only, any application or renewal outside this time will be returned. Junior Full Membership Application Please complete the Application forms available from Tackle Trader in Newton Abbot or by download below: Junior Full Memb Application Renewals (existing Full Members only) If you are an existing Full Member you need only send your photo-card licence to be endorsed, a SAE and the relevant fee. If your application is not complete it will be returned. After April please allow 2 weeks for applications to be processed. Renewals are processed from November 1st – August 31st only, any renewal request outside this time will be returned without exception. Any telephone enquiry to the Membership Secretary should be on weekday evenings between 7 and 9pm only. For the purposes of voting and access to waters both Full Concessionary and Disabled Members are classed as Full Senior Members and have exactly the same rights as such. A Lost Licence? Replacements can be obtained from the Membership Secretary. Please send a new passport photograph and a stamped addressed envelope, ideally include a note with your licence number. There is a £5 fee for replacement licences. Please enlose a cheque made payable to NAFA.
