Blue Tits have laid eggs in my nesting box

It was only about three months ago when I put up my new nesting box which is providing me with a live picture via a small camera located inside the box. It wasn't very long after the box went up that the blue Tits started building a nest. They laid eggs about two weeks ago and the female has been sitting on them almost ever since. She pops out for a few minutes several times a day but seems to be a very good mother.

Initially, she laid 10 eggs. One of the eggs seem to have been pushed aside for a few days but then found itself back amongst all the other eggs which she was sitting on. I noticed in the last couple of days that we are now back to 9 eggs.

Day 1 - the First egg has hatched

I just noticed a few minutes ago that she was eating some eggshell which obviously means something very exciting was happening. I'm excited to say that indeed there is a little tiny chick sitting amongst the remaining eight eggs. Both parents seem to be trying to feed it now, although some of the food looks a little bit too big for this tiny little baby bird. As I write this message I can see that the female appears to be trying to help the chick in some way.

I live on the south-west coast of England in a small town called Brixham.  I been confined to a wheelchair 1986 after breaking my neck in a swimming pool accident.  Computers are my saviour and I spend most days doing one thing or another on my PC.  Other interests I have include angling and amateur radio.  I also run a website and forum dedicated to looking after and caring for the Oscar fish cichlid
