Yet again travellers took up residence on Churston Common a couple of weeks ago. The council have made an attempt to stop them getting onto the green by putting large rocks along the border. However these travellers seem to be able to get around this obstacle somehow. At one point, there were probably six or seven caravans parked around the trees. These people have absolutely no regard for anyone, they let their dogs run around off the lead, probably fouling the common, I very much doubt whether any of them clean up after their animals. At one stage the dogs were running freely on the road, very nearly causing an accident. Whilst driving past today, I noticed that they had all departed. However, they left behind them an absolute mess, garden refuse, household rubbish, it was disgusting.
The council then had to move in to clean up after these dirty filthy scum. There isn't any other way to describe these travellers, they are just a bunch of lazy filthy trash that leave misery behind them wherever they go. If I was to drive onto the common and leave my van there for more than a few hours, you can bet your life a ticket would be slapped on it. Now I don't know the exact circumstances of how the authorities are dealing with these people, but I simply cannot understand why they are allowed to continually park up on the common. The first thing I would do on their arrival would be to give them a warning, move off within the hour or else. If they were still there, I would clamp all of their vehicles. I would then issue them with a bill for parking their vehicles on the common. Block of the entrance that they gained access to the common, and make sure that they cannot leave. Surely it's not that difficult, these people should not be allowed to get away with behaving like this.
