That Summer - Ray Winstone
I first saw That Summer late one night in 1988 when it was screened on TSW (Television Southwest that was) I took the initiative and actually taped it even though I have never heard of Ray Winstone or the the film itself. For many years I had it on tape until the inevitable happens, yes, somebody pressed the record button whilst it was still in my video recorder. I searched high and low, checked the film listings for many years after hoping that it would come on again but sadly it was never screened again. Then the Internet came along and I think I put a message on a forum and within a day a guy came back to me telling me that he had obtained a film reel from a television company containing That Summer. He had the film transferred onto DVD and once again I managed to obtain a copy. For while I was supplying the film to people for a small fee but I have now ceased doing this because the quality is rubbish once you play it on a widescreen television, since the majority of people now have these televisions they are never going to be happy with the quality of the film. Most of the copies you will come across available on eBay originate from my copy. There is another online store selling it but that copy is even worse quality than the one I have got when viewed on a large television. If you view it on a standard 24 inch television it is perfectly acceptable, although the quality still isn't excellent. So I'm sorry folks, I can no longer supply That Summer on DVD. You can get it from the following online store . They state that the copy they supply is a high quality DVD conversion. However, unless they have changed things since I purchased a copy from them, the copy they provide cannot be described as high-quality. The picture quality is absolutely terrible when watched on these large LCD/plasma televisions. They are asking £16 for a copy of That Summer. Personally, I think that is very excessive because you may well be very disappointed with what she received. They are however offering a full money back guarantee, so I suppose you could send it back. That Summer Soundtrack
I hope you enjoy it...

Man, I had this as a 17yr old and thought it was fantastic - I remember it being on yellow vinyl. It was lost in a house move years ago. My own boy is 17 now and I'd love him to be able to have it.

This was the first LP I ever bought and I loved it. I have been looking to replace this for years as it was lost at a party years ago. Is there anywhere I could get this.

A million thanks for putting this online, and particularly for managing to find New Life. I had a copy of this, many years back now, and it's as good now as it ever was.

Thanks for the happy memories brought back by this fantastic album. I sold mine for about 25p when I was clearing out my old vinyls and have never been able to replace it on CD or download...until now! Good on you!!

That Summer is one of Ray Winstone's earliest films as an adult. I believe he was 21 years old in 1978 when he appeared as Steve in That Summer. The film That Summer was filmed almost entirely in and around Torquay Devon. If you are familiar with the area you will still recognize many of the places they used as film locations. A lot of footage was shot at Oddicombe beach, The Pickwick Inn, the 400 Night Club that was, and around Torquay Harbour. It's actually quite amazing to see how much has changed since 1978, you will not recognize much of Torquay now.
That Summer was filmed almost entirely on location in Torquay Devon. It starred a 21-year-old Ray Winstone, Tony London, Julie Shipley, and Emily Moore. Other people you may recognise include David Daker (stared with Michael Elphick in Boon) Also starring is Stephanie Cole, now appearing as Roy Cropper's mother in Coronation Street
thanks,
John
