 Welcome to Tetraplegliving.com. My name is Penn and I'm 38 yrs old. I live in the fishing port of Brixham, which is on the South West coast of England.

I created this website for a number of reasons really. I have been paralysed and confined to a wheelchair as a tetraplegic (quadriplegic as it is more commonly referred to in some countries including the USA) for 20 years, following a life threatening swimming pool accident in which I sustained a serious neck injury at the C5/6 vertebrae, otherwise known as a spinal cord injury (SCI).

Unfortunately, the spinal cord does not repair itself, so the majority of spinal cord injury subjects are left permanently paralysed, thus dependent on a wheelchair. Some of you may think that life in a wheelchair is a life not worth living. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Since my accident, I've rediscovered my love for angling. I'm very much involved in amateur radio; I drive my own car and live in a bungalow by the sea.

Just because you're disabled, it doesn't mean you have to sit in your chair and vegetate. There are so many things in life to do, and more importantly, enjoy!. You don't need to be able-bodied to do them all. Don't let your disability ruin the rest of your life. Don't look at your wheelchair as if it is a ball and chain, get out there and see what you're capable of, you'll be surprised.

What I really hope this website will emphasize, is that life needn't stop once you're in a wheelchair!

I have added a few extra features to this refurbished website. I have included an integrated forum that anyone visiting the website can use. There are various subjects that may be of interest to do you. All I have to do is start a new thread, put in your username and you are away. Registered users to this website will have the added bonus of being able to notify themselves of any replies which is always helpful. Nonregistered users will not have this facility.

I have tried to make navigation as simple and as straightforward as possible. You need only use the links on the left hand side of each page. Other pages may contain extra links depending on the nature of that particular webpage. For instance, I have changed the look of the jokes page. Instead of having links on the actual webpage, they are now all contained on the left hand column in their individual sections, such as PPS files and videos. I hope that they are a little more clear now so you know what you are opening.

I would also like to add that a lot of the material on this website such as the cloned photographs, jokes and videos are not my work. Unfortunately I have no idea who created a lot of this work. They had been around the world so many times it is virtually impossible to find someone to credit but if they are your work then please let me know and I will credit you .
