Purchasing a Disabled Fishing Rod License 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
I'm going to tell you that as I start writing this message, I am absolutely bloody fuming. If you've been looking at this website, you'll know that I am a very keen angler. Us freshwater anglers have got to hold a rod license. I don't mind paying the money for what license if it means waterways are managed properly. However, what I do mind is being messed around at the post office when it comes to buying my rod license. I took with me some documentation that proves I receive disabled living allowance. I was very surprised to be told that this piece of documentation was unacceptable, I needed to show them my blue badge. Obviously I didn't have it with me, it resides next to the windscreen in my car all the time, without it I am not able to park in any disabled parking bays so obviously stays in the same place all the time. Anyway, even if I wanted to get it, I would have to get someone to do it for me. I don't know who decided that disabled people would have to produce their blue badge before being able to purchase a rod license, but whoever they are, they need sacking on the spot. They haven't thought this through at all. Think about it, I drive down into town, park in the disabled spot like I normally do, take my blue badge out from under the windscreen and then visit the post office. When I get back to my van, I've got a parking ticket for parking in the disabled bay without a blue badge. Is that crazy or what?

Believe me, I'm not going to let this rest, I am going to do my best to change this procedure for getting a disabled rod license, it's not right, it's totally discriminative against disabled people and just not fair. Our lives are hard enough as it is, why should it be made harder by bureaucracy?

After going on the environmental agency's website, it does now seem that the woman at the post office got it wrong. People who possess a blue badge and receive disabled living allowances are entitled to a concessionary rod license. Armed with my new information, I shall go again tomorrow and if they still refuse to give the long, and shall play merry hell in the post office.
