Automated telephone booking systems 2008/02/09 16:35 Karma: 3
I have wanted to see the film Cloverfield since it came out so decided that I would go with a friend on the evening of Saturday, February 9

So I rang the Apollo cinema. Typically I get through to an automated system that relies on you actually talking into the phone. This technology doesn't work very well with hands-free speakerphones but in the end it actually understood the Word Paignton. Then you've got to start using the buttons on your phone to select which the number you want. Well, I've never come across such crap technology in all my life. It was asking you to press the letter Q for the Paignton Cinema. On my telephone, the letter Q. is on number seven, after the number P. so you are asked to press Q., does that mean you have to press the button twice? I tried this several times but it would not work so I gave up in the end. Bloody technology, why can't they just give you a telephone number that goes through to the desk at the Apollo cinema, instead we have to have all this technology that doesn't work.

In the end, my only resort was to send an e-mail which they probably will reply to next week.

I had to commend the staff at the Apollo cinema in Paignton for returning my e-mail within half an hour. I have been able to book 2 seats.

They dont cater for them
